The update, set to launch December 16, includes the addition of a new game mode, "Spy Hunt," which adds the intrigue of espionage to the experience. The Elite Moderator item assigns the ability to kick out abusive players during a match. Characters can now be created from six base models, including two brand new female character models. Players can also purchase new items with the in-game currency, Gear Points (GP), or with real money through Nexon Cash (NX Cash), including several Christmas-themed items and new weapons. For the holidays, Combat Arms has added a gifting feature, allowing players to send NX Cash game items as presents to their friends.
The new "Spy Hunt" game mode features a two-part assignment to recover the secret plans for a weapon of mass destruction. In the first phase of the game, players compete with each other to capture three Intel Cases. Once one player captures all three, he or she becomes a Super Spy, and gains access to a special array of weaponry. The second game phase unites all of the other players in an effort to prevent the empowered Super Spy from transmitting the completed Intel at the Spy Transmitter.
The Elite Moderator item gives players capabilities similar to hosting a private Combat Arms "server." Moderators can maintain a level of fairness and competitive play which are frequently abused in online games. There are provisions for dealing with abusive moderators as well.
Expanded character options allow players to begin as a male or female character, while current players can change their character model by purchasing a Base Character Change or Gender Change for NX Cash. New "hidden" base characters not available through character creation can also be accessed with these NX Cash items.
Festive players can spend GP to purchase the Christmas Supply Case, which offers an opportunity to get the limited-time Reindeer Nose and Santa Claus beard. Players can also buy a Santa Claus Beanie or Christmas Backpack with NX Cash.
Additionally, as a special event to promote the new Gifting feature, players who send a gift between now and the end of the year will also have a chance to win the gift item.
